What you’ll do:

  • Develop and assist with the commission of high-quality documentary and factual programming with independent producers to fit in with the future strategic aims of Sky Entertainment Group.

  • Assist the team by supporting projects through from development to commission at a high level

  • Contributing to editorial thinking and decision making across the full lifecycle of production.

  • Inspire and engage producers by articulating our editorial priorities to both Indies and in-house Production.

  • Support the team in assessing and responding to ideas in a timely manner, developing strong editorial judgement.

  • Maintain a strong pipeline of development ideas, keeping clear records of incoming pitches and those that have been rejected, developed or commissioned, while proactively identifying new ideas and emerging talent.

  • Ensure projects are made by a diverse range of filmmakers, supporting and championing emerging talent, as well as bringing in established, award-winning names to Sky. 

  • Collaborate with our in-house teams to ensure programmes are compliant with OFCOM rules and delivered on budget and on schedule.

  • Stay on top of audience trends and spot opportunities to make premium content that is worth paying for.

What you'll bring:

  • A breadth of knowledge in production and commissioning; bringing a deep awareness of the most talked-about factual programmes and series in the marketplace and an understanding of what customers are looking for from Sky’s factual brands.

  • A passion for documentaries and a developed understanding of what components are needed to create a successful documentary. 

  • Strong relationship skills; ability to confidently form strategic internal & external relationships within a creative industry.

  • Highly organised, able to maintain systems and collate and simplify information to senior stakeholders when required.

  • Resilience; able to juggle numerous project and different personalities.

  • Curiosity about evolving storytelling techniques, audience behaviour and the changing media landscape.
