This senior editorial role will put you at the sharp end of Sky News journalism, commissioning and delivering stories and managing dynamic on-the-day news coverage across Sky’s web and app. There will be considerable team management responsibilities across the digital team.

This is a shift-based role including earlies, lates and some weekends.

What you’ll do

  • Make key editorial decisions and drive coverage on web and app
  • Participate in key editorial meetings setting the day’s agenda
  • Lead the web and app editorial teams, manage and develop journalists
  • Commission stories and analysis to our digital journalist and the wider newsrooms, including TV correspondents
  • Liaise with the wider newsroom to set the agenda and move stories forward
  • Participate in and contribute to the planning of big events
  • Work with our audience development team to implement data-led strategies

Essential Criteria

  • Sharp editorial judgement
  • Experience handling big breaking news scenarios and keeping cool under pressure
  • Legal knowledge and best-practice experience to critique and sign-off sensitive journalism
  • The agility to multi-task and ability to identify priorities
  • Significant newsroom and management experience
