What you’ll do:

  • Acquiring and delivering media to Sky News using a variety of equipment
    depending on the needs of each individual story, potentially on your own.
  • A confident, skilled camera and lighting operator, able to use the latest HD
    cameras for ENG, EFP and long-form/documentary style content gathering
    including Panasonic GH7’s.
  • A confident user of non-linear editing systems with an ability to understand the complex “in-house” workflow, from acquisition to contribution using Adobe
    Premiere.
  • A confident user of IP technologies (LiveU’s/Starlinks/IP dishes) used to deliver LIVE and recorded video content from the field.
  • Keen to work with a range of Sky News correspondents, field producers and
    fellow camera operator/editors to gather, manage and deliver the best
    possible content for all Sky News platforms.
  • Taking responsibility for your own ENG camera, sound and personal broadcast equipment including the use of company pool/hired vehicles when required.

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience in delivering a wide variety of raw and edited news
    content for all platforms under pressure of tight deadlines and challenging
    environments.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who displays evidence of working as part of
    high-performing journalistic teams on editorial and creative projects.
  • A keen sense of what makes high quality visual journalism on both TV and
    digital platforms, as well as enthusiasm to continually improve all aspects of
    the news gathering process.
  • A reliable team player who demonstrates a willingness to adapt to every kind
    of news assignment.
  • An ambition to consistently produce work at the highest level and contribute
    to Sky’s award-winning coverage.
  • Strong interpersonal, organisational and communication skills as well as the
    ability to positively interact with a variety of people and situations.
  • A consistent commitment and desire to work in the 'Breaking News' industry,
    with a keen interest and desire to travel to anywhere in the world, at times
    with limited or no notice, including travel to hostile and high-pressure
    environments.
  • Having the ability to confidently operate a range of ENG cameras, editing and
    transmission equipment for all news gathering purposes.
  • Good IT skills
  • Possessing a strong sense of how news works for online platforms, including
    Facebook / X / Sky News Mobile App
