In the Viewing Engineering team in Sky Data we know the data is critical to the success of our products and services. We use the latest tooling to build production systems to process first party viewing data, integrate hundreds of attributes for personalisation and transform advertising data to deliver value for our stakeholders; all of which helps us bring customers more of what they love.

What you'll do

  • Working with stakeholders like our Data Scientists and fellow technologists to understand business problems and data challenges.

  • Carry out Impact Assessments and contribute to estimates for the cost of the proposed changes.

  • Design of Data Models and ETL pipelines to meet the business requirements in the most efficient manner, implementing in leading tools such as Google BigQuery.

  • Ensuring that risks and issues are identified in a timely manner and effectively communicate proposed resolution and mitigation strategies to the wider delivery team.

  • Provide accurate estimates of time needed for analysis; including dependencies, risks and assumptions.

  • Contribute towards defining the analysis best practice and standards and ensure consistency of delivery across the team.

  • Working in an agile delivery team and flexing to carry out development and testing where necessary. Driving adoption of Data Products throughout the Viewing team.

  • Working with the delivery team to ensure that formal Change Management and Data Governance procedures are met and aid the Operations team investigating live Incidents.

What you'll bring

  • Proven experience of delivery of analysis & design across large scale data warehousing projects, including ETL pipeline design.

  • Experience of translating diffuse and complex business requirements into user stories covering functional, non-functional, security and acceptance criteria.

  • Excellent SQL skills enabling large scale data transformation and analysis.

  • Experience cloud processing of data, preferably Google Cloud Platform.

  • Confident and collaborative teamworking and innovative thinking.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to influence technical decisions in a fast-moving commercial environment.

  • Effective management of multiple priorities and conflicting requests, escalating to senior management where necessary.

  • Strong awareness of Sky’s products and services.
