This role will support the Data protection Officer in the review and ongoing development of Sky’s data protection risk assessment framework including undertaking data protection audits, providing support for incident management and maintenance of central records and metrics for regular reporting to senior management. The Data Protection Analyst will also provide advice on UK and Ireland data protection advice on a wide variety of queries from various internal business departments.

What you'll do:
  • Maintain full and complete records of privacy related complaints, incidents, breaches and actions taken; monitor such records to identify trends preparing reports for use by the data protection team and/or the data governance committee.
  • Proactively monitor and maintain a detailed knowledge and awareness of current privacy and consumer legislative interpretation and other developments including guidance/advice/codes of practice, enforcement practices and case law in EU
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve internal processes, to provide better service to partners and to promote streamlined and efficient working within the team.
  • Work with other members of the Data Protection Office to action and administer the Privacy Impact Assessment (PIA) programme, identifying where assessments are required and working with business partners to drive completion of PIAs, maintaining full and complete records and timetables for review.
  • Conduct internal self-certification assessments with identified business areas, to detect privacy awareness levels, process gaps and inconsistencies; prepare business area specific reports to the relevant Data Governance Committee member. Providing support to the business in designing and implementing corrective solutions and driving completion of privacy impact assessments and feeding into the Group communication, training and awareness strategy.
  • Support all business areas (including the relevant customer service departments) by providing advice and guidance in relation to Sky’s data protection policies and procedures.
  • Support the team in preparations to obtain accreditation under certification schemes due to be issued by the European Data Protection Board, facilitate operational teams’ activities to build appropriate operational effectiveness and improve efficiency of processing
  • Work closely with Project Management, Compliance and Technology teams to support internal projects to deliver Privacy by Design and Default, maintaining robust evidence and record keeping for publication to regulators where required
  • Support in delivering (with support from all data protection members) (i) the Global data protection day and (ii) the annual data protection co-ordinator conference.
  • Engage with all areas of the business where personal data may be processed to determine existing processes and assess how privacy is embedded. Identify gaps in control environments, customer journeys and personal data handling to determine privacy risk.
  • Work with all departments to provide proactive guidance and support to enable them to implement existing data governance policies and procedures, to achieve consistency of data treatment through effective application of data governance policies.

What you'll bring:
  • Data Protection qualification such as CIPP/E or similar essential
  • Practical experience of UK data protection legislation and associated codes of practices
  • Robust understanding and demonstrable interest in data protection, security and record keeping legislation in a complex regulated corporate environment.
  • Experience in completing risk reviews/assessments and remediation management calling out and presenting key themes & trends for the business to assess and address.
  • Awareness of the core concepts of information security, with an ability to understand the privacy aspects of technologies used to deliver Sky’s products and services.
  • Demonstrable audit, risk and/or compliance experience preferred.
  • Strong relationship building skills, with strong influencing, organizational, facilitation and communication skills, both written and verbal, and an ability to adapt communication style to a variety of partners across the business.
