We are looking for a network implementation engineer to join our growing Enterprise Development Team to assist in creating and maintaining a sustainable and expandable Network Strategy for the business. The team is responsible for producing and documenting designs and standards, plus implementing the network infrastructure for the changing business needs. This role will focus on Sky’s Enterprise Network but will also offer the opportunity to work in various projects across the whole IP Network, including the Edge & Services and the Core & Metro areas.

What you'll do

• Assist with the implementation of the Sky’s enterprise network infrastructure to ensure the security, availability and integrity of the company’s computer processing and communication capability.
• To work closely with design and implementation colleagues so that implementation plans can be written and implemented without causing interruption to live services.
• To keep Project Managers and Customers updated with the progress of implementation work.
• To work on the transition of new network infrastructure technologies from implementation into production by working closely with Network Support and other Operational Teams.
• To ensure all implementations are documented, compliant, delivered on time, and in budget.
• To promote and demonstrate Sky’s core values and ensure that you operate within these principles.

What you'll bring

• Educated to a higher education standard. This requirement may be replaced by demonstrable equivalent skills in a work environment been spent in a network technical / support or implementation role within a customer-facing IT organisation using similar technologies to those used by Sky
• Cisco CCNA
• Knowledge of high-end Cisco platforms such as Cisco Nexus, Catalyst 9xxx series. F5 load balancers & Palo Alto and Fortinet Firewalls.
• An understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP)
• Awareness of public/private cloud solutions.
• Basic understanding of Multicast, QoS and MPLS technologies.
• Basic programming/scripting ability
• An understanding of tasks associated with implementing large and complex infrastructure solutions within blue chip organisations.
• Have knowledge in public and private cloud technologies.
• Awareness of automation & orchestration (VMware and/or OpenStack)
• Basic DevOps skills (network infrastructure specific)
