Role/Team overview

The Multimedia Journalist will play a central role in delivering Sky Sports’ Formula 1 coverage to new audiences across social, digital and linear platforms. This role requires the ability to create dynamic, social-first content delivered with on-screen confidence and good editorial judgment that connects with modern, creator driven fan communities.

What you’ll do:

Content Creation & Storytelling  

  • Generate fresh story angles that highlight the personalities, drama, and technical aspects of F1.  

  • Create and deliver dynamic content tailored for Sky’s digital and social platforms (X, Instagram, TikTok).  

  • Innovate with shortform storytelling formats to maximise reach and engagement.  

Digital & Influencer Engagement  

  • Demonstrate a clear understanding of creator and influencer culture within modern F1.  

  • Engage authentically with fan communities shaped by digital creators and influencers.  

  • Collaborate with Sky’s social team to align coverage with evolving audience behaviours.  

Grow Industry Relationships  

  • Build and maintain good relationships with F1 teams, drivers, and FOM and FIA . 

  • Leverage these connections to secure exclusive insights and interviews.  

Broadcast & On-Screen Delivery  

  • Conduct insightful interviews with drivers, team principals, and governing bodies.  

  • Report confidently across Sky Sports’ F1 programming and Sky Sports News.  

  • Provide clear, engaging storytelling during pre-recorded and live coverage.  

Relationship Management  

  • As part of the F1 content team you will work closely with digital video, editorial and social media teams within Sky Sports to ensure consistency of output and support collective ambition to digital excellence.  

  • Ensure that lines of communication within and across departments are clear and workable.  

  • Alongside work on location there is an expectation to be part of the team based at Osterley. 

Candidate Specification:  

  • Play an active role within the Sky Sports F1 content team to shape features, content strands, and creative ideas from concept to development, both at Sky Studios and on location  

  • Collaborate across Sky Sports’ platforms to create content accessible to new audiences  

  • Report from races and Sky Studios on platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.  

  • Good editorial judgment, interviewing technique and on-screen confidence working across Sky Sport’s live F1 programming, Sky Sports News and social media team  

  • Create and deliver dynamic platform specific content for Sky’s digital and social team to create engaging content for X, Instagram & TikTok with a focus on fresh storytelling angles  

  • Adapt quickly to changing circumstances and deliver consistently high-quality reporting.  


What you’ll bring:

Essential criteria

  • With a background in TV production, content creation and journalism, excel at bringing engaging, social-first content to F1 fans.

  • Previous on-screen experience and a confident, professional presence.

  • Good knowledge of Formula 1, including teams, drivers, regulations, and current trends.  

  • Prevoius background in create long and short-form video, scripting, interviewing drivers and team principals. 

  • Experience creating platform specific content for digital and social media.  

  • A clear understanding of the creator and influencer culture surrounding modern F1 with the ability to engage authentically with modern creator-driven fan community.  

  • Developing or established relationships with FOM, FIA and F1 teams.  

  • Good editorial judgment and interviewing technique.  

  • Resilient, energetic, and flexible, with the ability to work under pressure and to demanding schedules.

How you’ll work :

This is a travel-heavy role that directly follows the fast-paced F1 calendar. You must be prepared to travel extensively and work weekends in line with race schedules to capture live coverage and events on location. When you are not travelling for Grand Prix weekends, there is an expectation to connect with the team in person at our Osterley headquarters. For these non-travel weeks, our hybrid working model expects you to spend 3 days in the office.
