We’re looking for Field Engineering Managers to join Sky Sports working across our motorsport output. As a member of Production Studios Department you will guarantee the technical systems on race events, and  supporting  the stakeholders  across  Sky Group  and the Senior Field Engineering Manager.

The roles will each have a focus of Vision and Audio respectively and the successful applicants would expected to be an SME in one of these disciplines, with a good appreciation of the other, allowing a level of multiskilling.

The role would ensure that the technical systems are prepared for deployment at the start of each season, and in 2025 configured correctly for their first deployment. 

Please note this role requires significant worldwide travel and weekend work. 

What you'll do:

  • Work alongside the stakeholders and production management to deliver our motorsport events.
  • Provide technical knowledge to guarantee outside broadcasts and/or studios.
  • Rig, configure, operate and maintain the technical equipment deployed on site.
  • Work closely with the Sky MCR and Studios (control room) teams in the UK, Italy and Germany to line up all vision, audio and communication systems.
  • Work alongside the Senior Field Engineering Manager to ensure documentation and schematics are kept up to date.
  • On site delivery and support the team with logistical planning for and during each season .
  • Second line support and repair of equipment, reaching out to the 3rd line support teams at Sky or liaising directly with manufacturers.
  • Provide first line to support for the technical  solution, including edit systems deployed on site, working with the support team in London to remotely resolve issues
  • Work with third parties on event to ensure all services are delivered to the highest level.
  • Contribute to the team development plans to support the evolving of our motorsport technical production requirements and the content we deliver.  

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience at guarantee or supervisor level working across sports.
  • Great communication and collaboration skills in-line with Sky’s values at all levels of our business.
  • Good understanding of remote production workflows and delivery of signals between Outside Broadcasts and Sky plus third parties
  • In-depth / Working knowledge* of Video systems, incl. Ross Video routers and video transport over network and fibre
  • In-depth / Working knowledge* of Calrec and Riedel Audio systems, plus good understanding of RF audio systems
  • Working understanding and ability to support a layer 2 on event network
  • Understanding of compressed video and audio communication circuits via a Netinsight platform, using AppearTV and NTT encoding would be an advantage.
  • Familiarity of industry trends to ensure the facilities remain current.
