Sky News is looking for a News Assistant to support the Foreign Desk operation. The position is a 6-month fixed term contract and will be based in Osterley. The successful candidate will work within the Foreign Desk Planning and Operations team and will help manage the smooth administration of the foreign operation.
We are looking for someone who is highly organised, with excellent communication skills and an interest and good understanding of the news agenda. To be successful in this role you must be prepared to work in a fast and highly driven team, be proactive and have a methodical and thorough approach to work as well as being able to prioritise your workload.
What you’ll do:
Accreditation and visa processing for global news events.
Travel bookings for Sky News team across the globe.
Work with the foreign planning team on day-to-day stories and assist with research.
Administration of training programmes.
Raising orders in line with budgets.
Processing of timesheets and invoices.
Raising HR & IT requests.
Building and maintaining good relationships in the newsroom and across the Sky business.
What you’ll bring:
Experience working alongside teams in a complex, fast-moving environment.
First class communication skills.
Strong planning and organisational skills.
Understanding or interest in learning about journalism processes.
Ability to take process information quickly and prioritise workload.
Newsroom experience is desirable.
Compliance and international trade sanction awareness a plus.
