Group Risk Investigations Manager
This is an exciting role in Sky’s investigation function reporting into the Group Director of Investigations, as well as working closely with our colleagues in HR Investigations, Employee Relations, and Compliance both in the UK and overseas. You will lead a team of investigators for our corporate response to criminal investigations involving Sky, as well as complex and high-level investigations involving whistleblowing activity under the Sky Listens programme. This role will offer the opportunity to work with key stakeholders and senior management roles as well as liaising with Law Enforcement.
As a Group Risk Investigations Manager, you will be responsible for our team of highly skilled investigators and senior investigators, providing management and guidance as they conduct their investigations. You will oversee and ensure the quality and accuracy of our investigative cases, and promote collaboration with the business, industry partners and law enforcement. You may also be required to conduct our most sensitive or complex investigations. You will ensure that our procedures and guidance for investigators are meeting appropriate best practice and train Investigators, as well as provide awareness training and presentations across our business on our work and the Sky Listens programme. You will ensure a continuous programme of improvement for investigative standards.
What you’ll do
- You will manage our team and oversee investigations end to end including analysis of allegations, designing investigation and interviews plans, collect documentary evidence, conduct investigation meetings, and holding debrief meetings with leadership.
- Provide supervisory guidance and escalation for cases and manage the expectations of business leaders and stakeholders and be accountable for your team’s performance.
- You will assign your resources appropriately and prioritise and respond to the business needs with the Investigators available, working with other specialist managers to support the correct functioning of our Sky Listens programme.
- Make objective and sound findings and provide recommendations and advice regarding corrective action as well as recommendations for internal improvements.
- Be prepared to attend criminal and tribunal court proceedings.
- Liaise with business interests, trade associations, law enforcement and government to develop and foster relationships.
- Shares knowledge and skills with colleagues through mentoring and proactive engagement.
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert representing Group Risk across our business on investigative practices.
- You will be responsible for the professional standards of the Investigation Team and provide training, support and guidance for staff conducting investigations.
- You will be responsible for allocating investigations and providing oversight.
- You will develop and maintain processes for the effective independent investigation of integrity issues across Sky, and for ensuring there is a culture of continuous improvement.
- Provide relevant reporting and updates to the Group Director, as well as Group Compliance and Comcast on case management and relevant analysis of investigative trends.
- Provide training and guidance on new investigation processes as needed.
- Develop and Deliver an effective and supportive induction programme for new staff.
- You will be responsible for ensuring the investigation team maintain appropriate legal and industry best practice in investigations
What you’ll bring
- Proven experience in leading, driving and/or overseeing complex investigations as a corporate investigator or Law Enforcement professional.
- Ability to lead and motivate a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals and to assess, develop and train skills, and improve performance.
- Navigate ambiguity and get to the root of an issue, communicating complicated concepts clearly and simply.
- Ability to sensitively manage highly emotive situations with the credibility and confidence to challenge conflicting views of employees at all levels in the organisation.
- Great time management, communication and organisational skills, and commercial awareness – able to quickly size up a complex people / business situation, sort through the facts, develop alternatives and make sound recommendations.
- Resilience and able to adjust readily to volume work and multiple demands, shifting priorities and rapid change.
- Excellent online investigative skills and knowledge of open-source intelligence gathering and investigative techniques,
- Expert knowledge of investigative procedures (such as PACE or ACAS best practice guidelines), awareness of exhibit handling, statement writing and evidence continuity / rules.
- Shows personal integrity and confidentiality working with sensitive information and maintaining the confidentiality of participants in a case.
- Understands how Legal Privilege applies and provide guidance and training to others.
- Have leadership experience in a team, taking on additional responsibilities and roles and providing guidance, mentoring and expertise. Drive motivation and performance in others.
How you’ll work -
The hybrid working expectations for this role is 3 day a week in the Osterley office.. Depending on business needs, we may ask for some flexibility when it comes to hybrid office days.
