We are looking for a highly motivated and efficient practitioner to help implement the delivery of Health & Safety service across our high-end TV & Film Productions and studio facilities. We want someone who can contribute by supporting studio operations teams and in-house production teams plus our production partners with their H&S requirements.

You will have the day-to-day responsibility for the provision of health and safety advice and guidance to Sky Studios supported by The Health, Safety and Security Manager (Productions).

This role requires a lot of self-discipline and empowerment to ensure an effective and efficient delivery of services, meeting the business needs and ensuring key risks to Sky staff, customers and contractors are controlled. You will need to understand the different roles and responsibilities that Sky has as both a studio operator, creator and commissioner of content, in order to provide suitable advice for each situation.

Your key responsibilities:

As a member of the Health & Safety team you will be responsible for supporting Sky with practical support across a wide variety of production and genres, plus taking ownership for the implementation of Health, Safety and Security initiatives.

 

The productions element of our business is fast paced and dynamic. As a safety practitioner serving this part of the business, you will be action oriented, and solution focussed. Being agile to the needs of the business will mean working across a range of locations and shifting attention in line with the priorities at that time.

 

Primarily this will mean working across our content areas based at our Head Office in Osterley but could involve periodic travel further afield.

What you will bring:

  • You have an excellent understanding of how Health & Safety enables a TV/Film production and can demonstrate the value it adds, to enhance the levels of health & safety afforded to all Sky colleagues, and maintaining awareness of the latest trends/approaches in Health & Safety, using this to keep the wider team informed.
  • You work effectively in a team environment; building productive partnerships with colleagues, customers, business partners, and collaborators to achieve targeted business results;
  • You are confident in challenging the norm, ensuring standards are fit for purpose and work for the business
  • You’re able to flex your approach, adapt your style and methods to get the best out of our in-house productions and 3rd party production partners. developing their skills and accountability in H&S to drive delivery of initiatives, projects, and programmes
  • You have excellent communication skills with the ability to interface at all levels; confident, capable, and credible in front of senior operational management, production managers and 3rd parties, to maintain H&S standards on our sites/locations to enable users to achieve their creative goals whilst encouraging a positive H&S culture
  • The drive to work in a fast-paced organisation where there is an environment of change, complexity and multi-functional partners
  • An ability to build an extensive network with other broadcasters and industry experts to ensure Sky remains up to date with the latest industry knowledge, and representing Sky at industry forums to influence positive change, ensuring that changes align with the Sky Strategy
  • Monitoring and assisting with the overall approach to H&S across Sky and our production partners, conducting sampling of the process and records to ensure performance

What you'll bring:

  • Excellent organisational skills, able to multi-task, have good time management and an eye for detail.
  • Proven track record to work to tight time scales and enjoy understanding issues and problem solving.
  • Pro-active team member with excellent interpersonal skills and capability to create rapport at all levels.
  • Experience working in fast paced organisations with growth appetites
  • Ability to lead programmes of work with a team of technical professionals
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance, and operating procedures.
  • An ability to advise on policy and guidance that meets the legislative requirement and the business needs
  • Good knowledge of Office 365; SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, Word etc.
  • Desire to learn to expand knowledge/train in role

Qualifications
  • Essential - NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent
  • Desirable - NEBOSH Diploma or Equivalent

Industry Experience

  • Essential - Experience in working in a large complex organisation with multi-functional requirements
  • Desirable - Experience working within High-end TV/Film production/Entertainment/events industry
