As part of the onsite Group Contribution and Origination support shift team, this Associate/Junior role is to learn and grow on the job through a proactive and hands on attitude, being mentored and working closely with shift and other specialist team colleagues. 

 

The Contribution and Origination Support department is responsible for providing technical support and maintenance of broadcast systems, equipment, software applications and networks. This includes troubleshooting hardware/software issues as well as performing preventative maintenance on all related components. The successful candidate will be able to work independently with minimal supervision while also being a team player in order to ensure the smooth operation of our broadcasting operations. 

What you'll do 

  • Provide world class 1st line technical support and timely fault analysis on the Broadcast Playout platforms, Live Content Delivery and News Operation Centre’s MCR operational teams as well as 3rd party pass-through services. 

  • Work a regular shift pattern in one of two engineering teams formed of Associate/Junior Engineers, Engineers & Senior Engineers 

  • Provide reactive, logical, and methodical fault finding to a broad variety of faults found across a large MCR and Playout facility. 

  • Create & update tickets for every task, working these through to resolution  

  • Learn and grow on the job, getting involved in traditional broadcast solutions but also having a keen eye on the future of broadcasting. 

  • Field calls, deal with routine maintenance and proactive checks, attend routine fault reports 

What you'll bring

  • Knowledge of broadcast chains and platforms 

  • Ability to prioritize problems and ensure the best customer experience

  • Ability to resolve complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist 

  • Consistently demonstrate strong team behaviors 

  • Work provides a significant positive impact on the team and/or the business 

  • A degree in Broadcast Engineering/Media Technologies/or equivalent 

Shift Pattern 

You will be required to work a shift pattern that covers a 7-day fortnight. This would normally be comprised of Week 1 - Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun / Week 2 - Wed, Thu 12-hour days with a one-hour break. As an associate / junior engineer within the team, you would be scheduled to work the early shift for the first few months, before adding late shifts and an on-call week to a 10-week rotation.
