What you'll do:
- Operate the robotic Shotoku camera system or manage the studio floor depending on the shift, delivering consistent, accurate and high quality support for Sky Sports News output.
- Act as the central point of coordination on the studio floor, working closely with Directors, Presenters, Production crew and guests to ensure the programme runs smoothly.
- Complete thorough pre show checks on microphones, earpieces and all floor equipment to confirm everything is functioning correctly and is ready for all contributors.
- Review running orders in advance and stay fully aware of any planned or potential changes to the set or programme flow, responding calmly and professionally as the editorial requirements shift throughout the day.
- Identify equipment or control system issues quickly and escalate them to the appropriate technical teams to minimise disruption and maintain broadcast continuity.
- Provide clear and accurate reports to the Operations Support Manager, detailing outcomes, issues and any suggested improvements that support ongoing development within the team.
- Maintain excellent housekeeping standards, taking responsibility for equipment, cables and studio space, and ensuring all facilities are used respectfully and efficiently.
- Follow all Health and Safety guidelines and contribute to a safe and well managed studio environment.
What you'll bring:
- Proven experience working within a live or fast paced broadcast production studio, with a solid understanding of studio floor operations, robotic camera systems, and associated technical workflows.
- Demonstrated ability to operate confidently under pressure, maintaining composure during live output, adapting quickly to unexpected changes, and supporting the wider team through calm, clear decision making.
- Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to relay precise information via talkback to Directors, Presenters, crew and guests, while promoting an inclusive, respectful and professional studio environment.
- A high level of technical awareness, including the ability to identify, troubleshoot and escalate equipment or control system issues promptly, ensuring continuity of broadcast operations.
- Excellent organisational skills, including proactive show preparation, thorough equipment checks, and consistent application of good housekeeping practices that protect technical assets and maintain a safe working space.
- A collaborative mindset, showing reliability, initiative, and the willingness to contribute to all aspects of the department while supporting colleagues and accommodating diverse needs.
- Current knowledge of Health & Safety practices relevant to studio environments, and an understanding of evolving broadcast technologies, tools and production processes.
