As an experienced Multi-Skilled Operator at Sky Sports News, you'll be at the heart of our dynamic studio environment, ensuring seamless production and fostering a collaborative atmosphere. Your role will be diverse, engaging, and integral to delivering high-quality broadcasts.

What’ll do:

  • Experience in operating robotic cameras simultaneously alongside the lighting control system and manage the studio floor in Sky Sports News, delivering high-quality work, following best practices, and embodying the inclusive and collaborative behaviours expected at Sky.
  • Act as a central point of communication fostering effective collaboration between crew, Directors Presenters, and guests, using a talkback system to relay instructions from the Gallery to the studio floor.
  • Ensure the functionality of equipment, such as microphones and earpieces, by conducting regular checks before each show, considering accessibility requirements.
  • Anticipate changes to the set and show by proactively reviewing the program schedule, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in accommodating diverse needs and preferences.
  • Take responsibility for addressing equipment and control system failures or issues in the studio environment, and promptly escalate them to the relevant parties when necessary.
  • Provide comprehensive reports to the Operations Support Manager, highlighting outcomes and lessons learned. Uphold the highest standards in housekeeping practices, cultivating a culture of respect for technical equipment and facilities, and implementing efficient processes for their effective use and maintenance within the team.
  • Maintain a strong awareness of current Health and Safety guidelines, fostering a safe working environment by promoting and adhering to good practices.

What’ll bring:

  • Operate Robotic Cameras & Lighting Systems: Simultaneously manage robotic cameras and the lighting control system, delivering high-quality visuals. Ensure all equipment is set up and functioning correctly.
  • Studio Floor Management: Act as the central communication hub between the crew, directors, presenters, and guests. Use the talkback system to relay instructions and ensure smooth operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Conduct regular checks on microphones, earpieces, and other equipment, addressing any issues promptly and ensuring accessibility requirements are met.
  • Program Schedule Review: Anticipate changes and adapt to diverse needs by proactively reviewing the program schedule, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Address equipment and control system failures, escalating issues to relevant parties when necessary.
  • Reporting & Housekeeping: Provide comprehensive reports to the Operations Support Manager, highlight outcomes and lessons learned, and maintain high standards in housekeeping practices.
  • Health & Safety: Promote a safe working environment by adhering to current Health and Safety guidelines and encouraging good practices.
