Operations Support Manager - Field Operations (Sky Sports)
Role Overview
The Operational Support Manager leads, develops, and supports the Field Operations Engineering team to deliver exceptional technical standards across Sky’s live sports events and remote production environments. The role ensures the team is future‑ready, operationally resilient, and equipped with the skills required to meet evolving production needs.
As technical delivery responsibilities grow and the scale of field operations increases, this role is critical in driving consistency, capability, and scalable skillsets across Field Operations, ensuring Sky Sports continues to deliver industry‑leading technical excellence.
What you'll do:
People & Team DevelopmentOwn the end‑to‑end people development lifecycle, from recruitment and onboarding to performance management, skills development, mentoring, and career progression.
Drive high‑quality performance reviews and lead the development and maintenance of personal development plans for Technical Event Engineers.
Work closely with Senior Technical Delivery Manager, Technical Solutions Lead, and the Technical Management team to ensure training and development pathways align with evolving industry trends and technologies.
Optimise resource planning to ensure productions are staffed with appropriately skilled engineers, reducing operational risk and maximising utilisation.
Champion emerging production technologies that enhance workflow efficiency, resilience, or capability across Field Operations.
Maintain strong operational awareness, ensuring documentation, processes, and standards remain robust and continuously improved.
Foster a positive, engaged, and motivated team environment where people feel valued and supported.
Embed regular communication methods and routines to ensure the team is aligned, informed, and connected.
Create an environment where engineers feel confident raising issues, sharing ideas, and seeking support.

Experience in leading and developing teams, with a strong background in performance management.
Experience within broadcast operations, with the ability to support both people growth and operational delivery.
Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

How you’ll work:
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the office per week.
