This role reports to the Senior Manager - Platform Reliability & Performance within Group Platform Engineering.

As a Platform Engineer in the Platform Performance team, you will help to develop the product value culture and mindset by focusing on practical methods and practices to improve efficiencies, tracking, and visibility across our deliveries. You will take an active lead in alignment with senior stakeholders, alongside the domain leads, to enable the smooth delivery of our product roadmaps.

You will assist with ensuring domain team accountability with the establishment of KPIs for new products and releases to meaningfully rWe believe in better. And we make it happen.  

The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week. This role is based in Osterley only. 

What you’ll do 

• Establish effective demand and delivery models - Create and maintain data models to map expected forecasts spend based on volumes including theimpact of product development releases to actuals, clearly identifying any drifts and anomalies

• Embed governance and cost optimisation – Align with central FinOps teamsto identify opportunities for performance improvements and optimisations within our ecosystems and ensure continuous policy alignment

• Drive data-driven decision making - Define and track meaningful KPIs across performance, cost, and utilisation, using insights to help identify areas of improvement for capabilities and upcoming risks

• Engage and influence stakeholders - Advise Stakeholder and leadership teams on costs based on each proposition to enable the business to choose the propositions based on value

• Partner across teams - Work closely with the Product Leads, collaborating on prioritisation of Product roadmaps & known dependencies, supporting the further establishment of a culture of product & value driven delivery across CT&I 

What you'll bring  

• Stakeholder Management and People Skills – able to build strong relationships, demonstrate strong stakeholder management and display proficiency in influencing technical and business teams

• Business Case and Value Realisation – have a proven track record of tracking continuous Improvements within a production ecosystem to ensure featuresand changes are delivering value introducing new KPIs where required

• Data Driven Analysis - exceptional attention to detail, leveraging tools such as Excel, Power BI, and M365 Copilot to review, interpret, and report on financial and management information in an evolving platform 

• Exceptional Communication Skills – demonstrate excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills

• Desire to Learn – show a healthy interest to continuously learn, improve and innovate including learning new technologies

• High level Operational Knowledge – demonstrate an understanding of Content Delivery technical workflows and methodologies, with the ability to articulate potential impacts of improvements and feature releases to a varied audience

Team Overview: 

We design, deliver and operate the platform capabilities that underpin Sky’s content, broadcast and live production engineering, supporting the full lifecycle of content acquisition, processing and distribution across all TV and OTT products across the Group. As part of the Software & Platforms function, the Platform Engineering team plays a critical role in enabling reliable, secure and scalable services. We provide the core platforms, tooling and operational capabilities that allow engineering teams to build, run and evolve services with greater transparency, resilience and cost efficiency.
