Podcast Producer – Sky News (12 Month FTC)

Sky News is looking for a podcast Producer on a 12-month basis to work on its ‘always on’ titles – particularly Politics with Sam and Anne, our collaboration with Politico. You will be immersed in news, especially politics, and have first class editorial and production skills to match an unstinting ambition to make Sky News’ slate the best in the political podcasting arena.
The role involves producing four early morning podcasts a week and taking a role on our relaunched daily news podcast, which publishes in the afternoon. You might also be asked to work some evenings and weekends as well carrying out on-location production.
You’ll be working with and steering key talent and helping devise effective strategies for promoting content on Sky News and external platforms – particularly in video.

What you’ll do:
- Record, Edit, and Publish Sky News Podcasts: Oversee the production process from recording to publishing. Ensure high-quality audio standards and timely release of episodes across all platforms.
- Scriptwriting and Episode Structuring: Craft engaging scripts and structure episodes to maintain listener interest. Brief presenters and guests to ensure smooth and impactful delivery.
- Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues in Sky News’ TV and digital newsroom. Coordinate efforts to promote and cross-promote podcasts, leveraging multimedia channels for maximum reach.
- Content Ideation and Development: Contribute fresh ideas and unique angles for discussion. Stay ahead of current events and trends to keep content relevant and engaging.
- Innovative Format Development: Devise and develop new podcast formats. Experiment with different styles and structures to keep the content fresh and appealing.
- Audience Growth and Engagement: Implement strategies to grow our audience. Focus on editorial impact to attract and retain listeners, using analytics to guide improvements.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience and imagination producing podcasts with a flair for mixing audio creatively and effectively.
- A firm grasp of national and international news ,current affairs and politics.
- An in-depth knowledge of the political podcast market.
- Extensive studio operating, recording, and editing experience.
- Flexibility and a commitment to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
