We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love.

And we do it all right here at Sky.

As Principal Architect, you will lead the design and evolution of cutting-edge media and telco platforms, driving innovation and technical excellence.

You’ll shape strategic architectural roadmaps, ensuring scalable, secure, and future-ready solutions.

This role is pivotal in aligning technology with business goals through collaboration, leadership, and vision

What you'll do

  • Architectural Leadership & Vision: Define and drive a forward-looking architectural vision that integrates cutting-edge technologies across software and hardware, ensuring scalability, security, and automation.

  • Innovation & Technology Strategy: Champion the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices to enhance system performance, resilience, and future readiness.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Engineering and Product teams to translate architectural strategies into actionable solutions, aligning with the one Platform vision.

  • Strategic Roadmapping: Develop and maintain an architectural roadmap that aligns with business goals, industry trends, and evolving customer needs.

  • Governance & Representation: Represent the department in Group architectural boards, fostering alignment and collaboration across architectural teams.

  • Risk & Performance Management: Lead technology selection and risk mitigation efforts, ensuring architectural decisions support scalability, performance, and security objectives.

What you'll bring:

  • Extensive Media/Telco Solution Design: Proven experience designing mission-critical, 24/7 IT systems and integrations in complex, international media and telecom environments.

  • Broadcast & Content Processing Expertise: Strong background in broadcasting technologies, including TV contribution, origination, and content distribution workflows.

  • Modern Architecture & Cloud Proficiency: Deep knowledge of API-first, event-driven, and microservices architectures, with hands-on experience in AWS and GCP for scalable, serverless deployments.

  • Data & Media Technology Mastery: Skilled in database modeling (RDBMS, NoSQL, cloud-native DBs) and media technologies such as codecs, packaging, DRM, and orchestration.

  • Agile, DevOps & Business Alignment: Experienced in Agile/DevOps methodologies (Scrum, SAFe), with a strong focus on business process analysis and delivering customer-centric solutions.

  • Leadership & Innovation Mindset: Collaborative leader with strong communication skills, a problem-solving attitude, and a passion for innovation—including interest in AI applications in media and telco.
