As part of the onsite UK Production Engineering support shift team, you will be looking after day-to-day systems and projects - from maintaining graphic systems & incoming data workflows to reactive video & audio related technical issues. Working across Sky News, Sports News, and the high-profile Sporting channels, you will be able to offer support and knowledge for smooth productions.
What you'll do
- Provide reactive “level 2 / 3” support to Sky’s TV Production, Graphics and Post Production Facilities, which include all programming and events such as Sky News, Sky Sports News, F1, Football, Cricket, EFL, Golf, Tennis and many other key productions
- Work a regular shift pattern in one of two engineering teams formed of Associate/Junior Engineers, Engineers & Senior Engineers
- Provide reactive, logical, and methodical fault finding to a broad variety of faults found across a large Television Production & Post Production facility
- Create & update tickets for every task, working these through to resolution.
- Learn and grow on the job, getting involved in traditional broadcast solutions but also having a keen eye on the future of broadcasting.
- Field calls, deal with routine maintenance and proactive checks, attend routine fault reports
What you'll bring
- A highly effective, positive, and influential communication style; demonstration of excellent people skills, communication skills, and coaching
- Competent knowledge of Microsoft Windows systems, win10/11, server 2012-2022
- Working Knowledge of Active Directory (Microsoft)
- Cloud knowledge (AWS / Azure)
- Knowledge of graphics systems (VizRT, Chyron would be beneficial)
- Fault investigation and Log interrogation
- Knowledge of broadcast chains and platform
- A degree or qualification in Broadcast Engineering/Media Technologies/or equivalent
- The desire to work in a pressurised environment meeting the demands of a live broadcast environment.
- Ability to resolve complex problems or problems where precedent may not exist
Shift Pattern
You will be required to work a shift pattern that covers a 7-day fortnight. This would normally be comprised of Week 1- Mon, Tue, Fri, Sat, Sun / Week 2 - Wed, Thu 12-hour days with one-hour break and on an early/late rotation. This would lead onto night shift cover later down the line covering the wider team responsibilities.
