Sky News is looking for an experienced radio journalist to work in its sports team producing content for the UK's commercial radio network.

You will be immersed in sports news, be able to write tight, concise copy and cues and have a thorough understanding of commercial radio sports coverage.

The role is based in the Sky News newsroom but will occasionally will involve live broadcasting from sporting events and interviewing high-profile sports people.

What you’ll do:

  • Write copy and cues, edit audio, produce and broadcast bespoke bulletins and packages.
  • Broadcast live from sports events for the network and for client stations
  • Contribute story ideas and treatments for all Sky News platforms
  • Help plan for major sports events
  • Represent the sports team in daily editorial meetings
  • Liaise with external clients and partners
  • Work as part of a shift pattern which includes early mornings, late nights and weekends.

What you’ll bring:

  • A first-class knowledge of a broad range of sports, the stories at their heart and the personalities involved
  • Studio operating, recording and editing experience
  • Ability to identify relevant stories and develop them
  • A firm grasp of media law and compliance
  • Flexibility and a commitment to develop and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues.
