The Scrum Master/Squad Coach is a key delivery role within the squad, accountable for driving sprint execution and progress towards program increment (PI) objectives within the Agile Release Train (ART).  

Sitting within the Agile for Sky framework, the role works closely with the Release Train Engineer, Senior Product Owner and the wider ART to enable effective delivery, improve ways of working and ensure the squad consistently delivers value.  The Scrum Master acts as both a delivery lead and an agile coach, supporting the squad to perform at pace while maintaining quality and alignment

 

What you’ll do:

  • Own sprint delivery and support the squad to achieve committed PI objectives, ensuring progress and removing impediments.
  • Facilitate squad ceremonies and coordinate day to day workflow across development, testing and release activities.
  • Act as Agile Coach to the squad, driving adoption of Agile best practices aligned to the Agile for Sky framework.
  • Manage squad risks, issues and dependencies, escalating where required and working closely with the Release Train Engineer and wider ART.
  • Track and communicate progress, performance and release targets to stakeholders using metrics to drive continuous improvement.

 

Essential Criteria:

  • Strong experience within Agile teams with a solid understanding of Agile at scale.
  • Proven ability to drive delivery, manage squad workflow and remove impediments to maintain progress.
  • Skilled in facilitating Agile ceremonies and coaching teams to improve collaboration and performance.
  • Experience in managing risks, dependencies and stakeholder communication within complex delivery environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence across squads and stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of the software lifecycle including development testing and release processes.

 

Desirable skills and experience:

  • Experience working as a Scrum Master or Squad Coach, ideally with relevant certifications (e.g. SAFe Scrum Master).
  • Experience in large scale or complex delivery programmes within a scaled Agile framework.
  • Background in media, telecoms or similar faced paced technology environments.
  • Knowledge of Agile metrics and using data to drive improvements.

How you’ll work

We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.
