What you'll do

• Build clean, reusable APIs for video playback on mobile devices

• Develop modular Android components for use across multiple apps

• Design and implement end-to-end playback features including DRM, ads, and analytics

• Analyze, optimize, and improve the performance and reliability of the codebase

• Collaborate with teammates and mentor junior engineers

• Comcast and Sky manage thousands of linear channels and a vast library of on-demand content. You'll help develop new features and improve playback performance across a wide range of devices

• Work on technology that reaches millions of users globally

• Collaborate with world-class engineers across Comcast and Sky

• Build features that directly impact customer experience

What you'll bring

• Deep extensive experience of Android application development

• Established and highly skilled in all aspects of software engineering

• Strong programming skills in Java and Kotlin

• Solid understanding of Android architecture patterns and best practices

• Experience with video streaming protocols (HLS, DASH)

• Familiarity with ExoPlayer (bonus)

• Agile development experience with CI/CD pipelines

• Strong analytical and debugging skills

• Ability to prioritize and organize effectively

• Willingness to mentor and collaborate in a team-oriented environment

Team Overview

As a Senior Android Engineer on the Android Viper Player team, you will help build and maintain client-side libraries that power video playback for millions of users across Comcast, Sky, and our global partners. These native SDKs are embedded in apps like Xfinity TV, Contour2, FreeRange TV, delivering Live, OnDemand, and Recorded content with high performance and reliability.

You'll contribute to the development of a robust video player that integrates with streaming services, DRM, advertising, emergency alerts, and real-time analytics. Your work will directly impact how users around the world experience video on Android and FireTV devices.
