And we do it all right here at Sky.

In the Viewing Engineering team in Sky Data we know the data is critical to the success of our products and services. • Understand and contribute to the agile delivery process and propose improvements to address the challenges of agile methodologies in a data delivery team.

  • Drive forward best practice within the team and take ownership of quality across a wide range of requirements from data warehousing to real-time streaming. Work in close collaboration with other team members and subject matter experts and roll out initiatives across multiple squads.

  • Actively share knowledge of our systems and data products.

  • Provide accurate estimates and domain knowledge, highlight risks and challenge assumptions.

  • Support the other members of the team with coaching, mentoring, training and performance management in order to achieve business and stakeholder outcomes.

What you'll bring

  • Strong and demonstrable SQL skills suited to complex and large scale data transformations and data warehousing concepts such as slowly changing dimensions.

  • Proven experience working with large, complex datasets in a cloud environment (GCP/AWS/Azure) and leading in solution decision making and solution implementation.

  • Ability to develop code in a range of programming languages (eg. Unix scripting & Python) including familiarity with scripting for automation and scheduling.

  • Experience in data integration and data orchestration tools and proven decision making ability to select tools appropriate for tasks.

  • A strong knowledge of CI/CD and an ability to adapt and extend existing processes and tools or introduce new ones.

  • Clear verbal and written communication, particularly in discussing and explaining technical concepts.

  • An enthusiasm to contribute to analysis, development and testing disciplines and an understanding of the skills and attributes which are relevant and how you can contribute.

  • Exceptional social skills with the ability to nurture team spirit and confidence in colleagues and to share knowledge effectively.
