Senior ER Consultant
As a Senior ER Consultant, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering high-quality ER service across the business, working closely with a specific business area and managing your own case load. You will act as a trusted advisor to people partnering teams and senior leaders, ensuring day to day alignment on ER approach, risk mitigation and best practice. Alongside this you’ll work closely with the ER management team to support and develop team members, ensuring a high-quality output and manager experience.
What you’ll do –
You will act as a senior subject matter expert in complex and high-risk ER matters
You will lead on the resolution of sensitive and high-profile ER cases, ensuring outcomes are legally compliant, commercially sound, and aligned to Sky’s values and behaviours
You will be aligned to a business area alongside your ER Manager, working closely with the people partnering team and senior leaders to proactively manage escalations, address concerns with the service and sharing patterns/trends and insight
You will manage escalations and cases that fall outside of standard process by owning and leading risk calls. Provide clear, pragmatic advice to support informed decision-making, ensuring outcomes are aligned with legal, reputational, and commercial considerations
You will develop and mentor the ER team members, supporting their development using coaching techniques, knowledge sharing, case reviews, and upskilling on emerging ER trends and legislative changes (both individual and group)
Champion continuous improvement initiatives by using data and insights to identify opportunities to enhance ER processes, policies, and service delivery, leading implementation in collaboration with the ER Managers and Head of ER
You will drive stakeholder engagement by building strong, collaborative relationships across HR, legal, Group Risk and business leadership teams to ensure a consistent and proactive approach to ER
Essential Criteria –
Extensive experience in complex Employee Relations case management, including high-risk, sensitive or high-profile case management.
Strong understanding of UK and Ireland Employment Law and it’s practical application in a commercial environment.
Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with stakeholders at all levels—including senior leaders, HR People Partners, legal, and business teams—by applying empathy, credibility, and sound judgment
Excellent coaching and mentoring skills, with a track record of developing others and sharing expertise across a team.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to tailor messaging to different audiences and influence outcomes.
Analytical mindset, with experience conducting case reviews or audits, and using data to identify trends to inform continuous improvement
Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced and complex environment

How you’ll work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the office per week.
