What You’ll Do:

  • Game Design:

    • Lead the design of game mechanics, systems, and features for both new and existing IPs.

    • Develop and iterate on game concepts, prototypes, and design documents.

    • Design engaging and accessible gameplay experiences tailored to casual audiences.

  • Game Balance and Experimentation:

    • Design and implement balanced game systems that provide a fair and enjoyable experience for all players.

    • Continuously monitor and adjust game balance based on player feedback and data analytics.

    • Experiment with new game mechanics, features, and content to keep the gameplay fresh and engaging.

    • Conduct A/B testing and other experimental methods to evaluate the impact of design changes.

  • Project Leadership:

    • Collaborate with the creative director and other team leads to define the design vision and strategy for each project.

    • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior game designers, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.

    • Ensure design goals are met and maintain a high standard of quality throughout the development process.

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with other departments, including art, engineering, and audio, to ensure a cohesive and polished final product.

    • Communicate design ideas and feedback clearly and effectively to team members and stakeholders.

    • Participate in regular team meetings, providing updates and feedback on design progress.

  • User Experience and Engagement:

    • Conduct playtests and gather player feedback to inform design decisions.

    • Analyze user data and metrics to understand player behavior and improve game balance and engagement.

    • Ensure the game is intuitive and enjoyable for a wide range of players, particularly within the casual gaming market.

  • Documentation and Presentation:

    • Create detailed design documentation, including gameplay mechanics, level design, and user interface specifications.

    • Present design concepts and progress to internal teams and external partners as needed.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience:

    • Extensive professional experience in game design, with a focus on casual games and/or established IPs.

    • Proven track record of designing and shipping successful games on mobile, console, or PC platforms.

    • Experience in leading design projects and mentoring junior designers.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency with game design tools and software such as Unity, Unreal Engine, or similar development environments.

    • Strong understanding of game mechanics, level design, and user experience principles.

    • Ability to create and iterate on prototypes quickly.

  • Creative Skills:

    • Exceptional creativity and a passion for creating fun and engaging gameplay experiences.

    • Strong understanding of player psychology and engagement strategies.

    • Ability to balance innovative design with practical constraints and user needs.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

    • Ability to work well in a team environment and collaborate with multiple disciplines.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or a related equivalent experience.

  • Experience with free-to-play game design and monetization strategies.

  • Experience working with other studios IP.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).

  • Passion for casual games and a deep understanding of the casual gaming market.

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There are also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
