As a Senior software developer, for Group Digital Platforms, you’ll be pivotal in building Sky Sports Web applications. 

• Coach and mentor our engineers, provide line management through conducting of regular 1-to-1s and annual performance reviews. 

• Produce clean, well-tested and documented code; demonstrate a strong understanding and application of modern software design principles. 

• Provide technical experience to drive, steer and support the other engineers in your team. 

• Take part in key decisions to help guide the team towards scalable and maintainable solutions. 

• Build, support and improve coding standard methodologies to develop testable code at a high quality. 

• Work with stakeholders to elicit requirements, break down work into smaller items and ensure there is enough information available to progress with development. 

• Work with senior technical staff to advocate & advance modern software development processes. 

• Be a part of Sky’s software engineering community and actively contribute to development meetings, guilds and wider Sky initiatives 

• Strong and demonstrable understanding of PHP, JavaScript, Python or similar  

• Experience using TDD to deliver enterprise-quality code 

• A continuous delivery approach with knowledge of containerisation and cloud services (Cloudfoundry, GCP, Heroku, AWS, Azure, etc.) 

• Experience with all parts of the development process, such as monitoring and observability, automated CI/CD pipelines, API, GraphQL and backend integrations etc. while collaborating closely in a cross-functional team. 

• Comfortable with the key values and principles of Agile, including purpose of ceremonies and Agile estimating and planning

Our spacious tech hub is under a mile away from Leeds train station. There’s plenty of parking in the surrounding streets and at the nearby CitiPark.
