Senior Strategy Manager

What you’ll do:
As a Senior Strategy Manager in Sky Business you will be responsible for helping the organisation make the right long term decisions, providing an objective point of view to help prioritise where to focus resources. You’ll use data and insight to build thorough business cases and help inform decisions spanning new products, new partnerships, M&A and big organisational change initiatives. You’ll work across a variety of products and sectors, from TV to connectivity and from Small Business to Enterprise and Wholesale.
Support the production and communication of the Long Range Plan and business strategy
Input into annual business planning across Sky Business, working with Finance and Commercial teams to help ensure the LRP, budget and trading plans are well aligned
Lead key pieces of strategy work including:
Building compelling business cases for strategic growth initiatives including market and customer research, financial modelling (costs, benefits, ROI/NPV/IRR etc), commercial evaluation and appraisal, delivery appraisals etc
Working through the potentials of partnering with outside companies / entities to advance Sky’s best interests.
Appraising Fiber-first initiatives, including alternative networks
Teaming with Commercial, Product, Finance and Segments to ideate growth initiatives.
Carry out specific pieces of research and insights to support a proactive strategic growth agenda to facilitate the medium to longer term growth of Sky Business
Help to frame and execute the Sky Business M&A strategy to include - market scanning and assessments, due diligence, acquisition, integration, delivering synergies etc.
What you’ll bring:
You will have around 5 years’ experience in a strategy or commercial role.
You will be able to grasp and interrogate new ideas quickly, and able to view them from differing perspectives. Your ability to build great stakeholder relationships will allow you to get close to all areas of this complex, matrixed business without impacting your ability to challenge the status quo where necessary. You will be able to build detailed business cases, and work through complex challenges, but communicate the end narrative in a simple, clear and concise manner. You will be able to balance being a great long term thinker with the ability to hustle and solve problems in the here and now
Strategic thinker with a track record of delivery / transformation
An innate curiosity with the determination to find answers to address business challenges.
Commercially astute – comfortable with delivery of strategic improvement plans and building of business and investment cases
Outstanding communicator to all levels – capable of creating a compelling vision and making complex subjects straightforward
Highly data literate, with proven business case and cost-modelling expertise
Exceptional stakeholder management skills and the gravitas to contribute meaningfully and constructively to the leadership team
Restless to change Sky for the better, combines big picture vision with a capacity for detail
Good to have, but not essential experience:
Working on large scale cross functional change programmes and/or strategy within a management consultancy, strategy consultancy, or large-sale matrixed organisation
Of M&A – market scanning and assessments, due diligence, acquisition, integration, delivering synergies etc
Of telecoms or Business to Business
