With one of the largest, leading TikTok news accounts and the most sought-after YouTube channel for breaking news and bespoke daily social live streams, the Audience and Social Team sits at the heart of our work to connect with and deliver for our audiences. We showcase the best of our breaking, eyewitness and explainer journalism for audiences in the UK and beyond.
What you’ll do:
Be familiar and comfortable with the original journalism from our award-winning home, international and specialist newsgathering teams and have a passion for telling these stories.
Understand how best to drive referrals to our own app/website
Know what makes a great social post and smart social video clip
Have detailed knowledge of crafting and optimising social content for Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, Snapchat and YouTube
Have experience in setting up tailored livestreams on YouTube, Twitter and Facebook
Have demonstrable experience of using insight from analytics tools to increase engagement and growth
Be someone who takes pride in coming up with fresh ideas, for treatments or original stories
Be a standout colleague who is comfortable working closely with other parts of the newsroom, demonstrating adaptability and resilience at work.
Be a digital native – and a passionate consumer of news on multiple platforms
Know how to tell sophisticated stories in a clear and innovative way with the audiences’ needs in mind.
Be comfortable working shifts with an ability to flex around news demands – this is 24-hour news, and we’ll need you on the biggest stories.
What you’ll bring:
A heartfelt belief in the importance of journalism to serve our audiences and hold power to account.
Knowledge of the Sky News brand, its key programming strands, and journalists across all platforms.
Proven experience in posting content to news publishers’ social media accounts.
Excellent writing skills.
An ability to work at pace whilst maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Demonstrable training and knowledge of media law and the regulatory environment in the UK (copyright, defamation, Ofcom code etc).
Deep understanding of how to drive referrals in line with critical metrics.
Flair for innovation, creativity and generating ideas and an eye for what makes for a compelling social clip and social promotion strategy.
Proficiency with Adobe suite (particularly Premiere, Photoshop, AfterEffects) to edit videos and create engaging, clickable graphics.
Experience of commissioning graphics and a good knowledge of graphics programs (Photoshop/After Effects).
Experience of working with a CMS.
A strong understanding of UK and global news.

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There’s also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
