What you'll do

  • Understand and respond to Sky Group's business and operational requirements to define and propose solutions to meet the business goals and objectives. 
  • Take responsibility for the design and definition of comprehensive systems, ensuring these can support the provision of service to required and agreed levels 
  • Work with technology teams to craft and develop solutions that are secure, high responsive, scalable, extensible and resilient to failure to meet the business' high availability requirements. 
  • Provide advice and support to other internal groups to recommend appropriate technology for the implementation of Live content and contribution solutions 
  • Support the evolution of the technology platform roadmap in Contribution and Origination platforms and represent them across the wider business 
  • Build effective communication across all business areas within Sky and to ensure knowledge and experience is shared for mutual benefit. 
  • Get hands on with public cloud services such as AWS, Encoding and Decoding hardware and software solutions, Video and audio processing & Networking of compressed and uncompressed live content.  

What you'll bring

  • One of either a bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Operations/Engineering or Computer sciences or vocational qualification in Broadcast specific such as HND, BTEC with 7+ years’ experience in Broadcast operational, engineering or technical operational type positions. 
  • extensive experience in project delivery or supporting technology delivery into operations. 
  • Competent in the use of drafting/diagramming software applications such as Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, DrawIO 
  • Extensive  experience in technical and/or operational process documentation writing 

Technologies you’ll use or be familiar with 

  • Drafting / diagramming applications E.g. Autodesk AutoCAD, Microsoft Visio, DrawIO 
  • Road mapping applications – Aha! 
  • Task Management and Technical documentation – Atlassian JIRA and Confluence 
  • Cloud Technology providers – AWS 
  • Networking technology and standards – Practical knowledge of networking standards such as TCP/IP, UDP, and Multicasting. L3 / L2 Protocols and standards. Industry specific practical knowledge of Application specific protocols such as RTP, NTP, PTP and standards such as ST2110 / ST2022, and ARQ protocols such as SRT, RIST, Zixi preferrable.

We support the technology and deliver change through innovate projects to support the Live Production and Live content delivery for News, Sports & Entertainment in MCR, Playout and Distribution technology areas across the Sky Group in UK, Italy and Germany. We are an international team working with our customers and our partners in operations to build solutions to meet the needs of the most effective and innovative productions for our customers.
