Sky Protect is a newly launched product, combining home insurance with smart home devices including a Video Doorbell, Indoor Camera, and an array of sensors. The Sky

Protect Product & Tech team are responsible for the smart home technology which includes the physical devices, the Sky Protect app and the IoT platform that underpins the solution.

The Sky Protect Product & Tech team are looking for a Technical Product Owner to work as part of the Product team to support with technical initiatives that focus on improving quality and enhancing the current product capability. The initiatives this role would be responsible for will focus predominantly on the IoT platform and device firmware requirements.

What you'll do 
  • Work closely with the Product, Technical and Architecture teams to define scope and produce the product requirements for initiatives relating to cloud architecture and/or firmware specifications.

  • Work closely with the Mobile Product Owner and development team, to understand the needs and implications of the mobile app.

  • Proactively manage the backlog to ensure alignment on prioritises within the wider Product team.

  • Seek to understand the needs and pains of the customer and business by reviewing the product performance using tools like Dynatrace and Tableau and establish opportunities to improve performance and experience for our customers.

  • Build a strong working relationship with Delivery, Scrum Masters and Architecture to ensure planning coordination and complete alignment on proposed solutions.

  • Ensure integrity of the solution scope throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • Work with the Product team to understand the holistic Sky Protect product roadmap, the direction of the business and support with new initiatives.

  • Maintain and update product documentation.

What you'll bring 
  • Experience of owning product initiatives and backlog, driving the delivery of the ask from initiation to completion.

  • Software Development Knowledge: Understanding of software development lifecycles (SDLC), common programming languages, and software architecture desired.

  • Experience in writing product and non-functional requirements.

  • Have an analytical mindset and proficient in reviewing technical performance data to identify issues and/or opportunities.

  • Agile Expertise: Being well-versed in Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum, is essential for effective backlog management and working with development teams.

  • Desirable to have experience of working with IoT technology and to have knowledge of cloud architecture (e.g. AWS, GCP).

  • A great communicator and collaborator with experience of working cross-functionally to align teams on requirements and ensure successful delivery of roadmap items.

  • Be a self-starter with a strong motivation to deliver outstanding experiences for our users.
