Role/Team overview
This role is an exciting opportunity to join us and work within the Sky Sports Vision Mixing team. You will play a crucial role in live productions at Sky, responsible for the technical operation of what is seen by millions of sports fans around the world. Your expertise in operating state-of-the-art technology and collaborating with production teams will contribute to the delivery of captivating and dynamic sports content.
What you’ll do
In conjunction with the content teams, execute the programming needs of the production in either the live or pre-recorded environment.
Contribute to pre-production setup, testing, and rehearsal sessions to ensure all technical aspects are functioning optimally prior to live productions.
Collaborate closely with directors and other team members to ensure the visual narrative aligns with the overall production goals and storytelling.
Develop and maintain appropriate comprehensive technical documentation.
Proactively manage technical facilities and equipment.
Provide support for wider vision mixing related workflows including asset management and distribution.
Troubleshoot technical issues and make real-time adjustments to maintain the smooth operation of a production.
Stay updated on the latest industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices related to vision mixing and live production techniques.
What you’ll bring
Essential criteria:
A solid understanding of production technical areas including galleries, studios, remote and virtual systems.
Demonstrated expertise as a vision mixer, with experience in live sports broadcasting environments.
Skilled in operating vision mixing equipment, including production switchers, video routers, and associated control systems. Possesses in-depth knowledge of Grass Valley Kahuna and Kayenne mixers.
Strong understanding of live production workflows, camera angles, shot composition, and visual storytelling techniques.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, high-pressure live production environment.
Attention to detail and a keen eye for visual quality and continuity.
Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate the live broadcast schedule.
Practical understanding of all related disciplines within live TV production.
Highly motivated team player, with a commitment to continuous self-improvement.

How you’ll work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the office per week.
Your office base
Osterley
Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There’s also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
