The Video Player Technology (VPT) team is building the future of streaming with a world-class cross-platform SDK used across mobile, web, Smart TVs, and connected devices. Our SDK powers smooth playback experiences, including live, VOD, and low-latency streams, by leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as adaptive bitrate streaming, modern video codecs, and server-guided ad insertion.
We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Android team and help deliver premium video playback experiences across the broad ecosystem of Android devices. You’ll be part of a high-performing, collaborative squad that takes pride in solving complex technical challenges and shaping the future of streaming technology.
What you'll do
Develop and maintain high-quality features for the Android Video Player SDK using Kotlin.
Collaborate with product managers, QA engineers, and developers to deliver robust, testable solutions.
Integrate and enhance media playback components and support streaming features like ABR and DRM.
Participate in design discussions, code reviews, and contribute to best practices to ensure engineering excellence.
Optimise playback performance across diverse Android devices.
Engage in agile ceremonies and provide accurate task estimates.
Stay up to date with Android technologies and streaming standards.
What you'll bring
Proven Commercial experience developing Android applications or SDKs in Kotlin.
Understanding of Android architecture and media playback components (ExoPlayer experience a plus), and ADB tooling.
Familiarity with video playback technologies (HLS/DASH, DRM, ABR).
Basic knowledge of performance optimisation and debugging across Android devices.
Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and tools like GitHub Actions.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate in global teams.

Our Osterley Campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Gunnersbury, Ealing Broadway and South Ealing tube stations. There are also plenty of bike shelters and showers.
