This senior editorial role will put you at the sharp end of Sky News journalism, overseeing output on web and app overnight. The role includes covering events happening across the globe, from the US to Asia, commissioning to correspondents – as well as team management.

This is a shift-based role.

 

What you’ll do:

  • Make key editorial decisions on what to cover and how to display our journalism across Sky News web and app when millions of users wake up
  • Edit and publish pieces throughout the night
  • Send push notifications for events breaking overnight
  • Commission analysis or eyewitness reports to foreign correspondents
  • Coordinate coverage across the wider newsroom
  • Offer guidance and commission pieces to the overnight reporter
  • Manage journalists, offer constructive feedback and stay across their development

 

What you’ll bring:

  • Impeccable editorial judgement
  • Highest standards of accuracy, balance and fairness
  • Have ‘best practice’ experience and legal knowledge to critique and sign-off sensitive pieces
  • The agility to multi-task and the ability to prioritise
  • Significant newsroom and breaking-news experience
  • Team management experience

Your office base:
Osterley

Our Osterley campus is a 10-minute walk from Syon Lane train station. Or you can hop on one of our free shuttle buses that run to and from Osterley, Chiswick Park, Gunnersbury, Acton Town and Ealing Broadway tube stations. There’s also plenty of parking, bike shelters and showers.
