We believe in better. And we make it happen.

Better content. Better products. And better careers.

Working in Tech, Product or Data at Sky is about building the next and the new. From broadband to broadcast, streaming to mobile, SkyQ to Sky Glass, we never stand still. We optimise and innovate.

We turn big ideas into the products, content and services millions of people love.

And we do it all right here at Sky.

We’re hiring for an Associate Java Developer to join a dynamic team working at the intersection of technology and data science. In this role you will work on personalisation and recommendation systems for television —think “Because you watched this, we recommend…” functionality. The team is responsible for analysing user behaviour and viewing trends to deliver tailored content experiences, helping reduce editorial overhead while increasing customer engagement through fresh, data-driven recommendations. You’ll be contributing to projects that categorise user journeys, push genre-specific content, and enhance personalisation using machine learning, Python, and cloud technologies. Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset are key, and we welcome applicants from university or bootcamp backgrounds, including recent graduates.

What you'll do

  • Design and develop end-to-end AI/ML solutions using state-of-the-art model architectures to solve complex problems in the Media domain.
  • Translate problem statements into deep learning and machine learning solutions, staying up to date with the latest advancements to rapidly prototype and demonstrate ideas.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to communicate outcomes effectively through data storytelling and visualisations.
  • Work closely with data engineering teams to build and maintain robust ML pipelines for model development and deployment.
  • Engage with global research teams, including partners in the USA, to co-develop innovative AI solutions.
  • Contribute to and evaluate open-source technologies, and actively participate in the wider AI/ML community through conferences, publications, and thought leadership.
  • Apply Agile development practices and consistently exercise independent judgment in high-impact technical decisions.
  • Collaborate across teams and evaluate internal and external solutions through case studies, testing, and reporting, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with business goals.

What you'll bring

  • Proficiency in machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, and TensorFlow
  • Experience with large language model (LLM) frameworks like Langchain and LlamaIndex
  • Programming skills in Python, with working knowledge of R, Matlab, and C++
  • Familiarity with key data science and NLP libraries including Scikit-learn, OpenCV, Spacy, Pandas, Gensim, and Numpy
  • Understanding of cloud solutions, Docker, and Kubernetes-based deployment is a plus
  • Exposure to full stack application development is a plus
