Our Video Engineering team sits at the heart of innovation—designing, delivering, and supporting cutting edge broadcast platforms that power our customers’ experiences across multiple regions and markets.
We are seeking an experienced Broadcast Engineer with strong expertise in the Playout domain to support and enhance the German deployment of our cloud-based playout platform. This role is a dedicated 12‑month contract, with the possibility of extension, focused on day-to-day delivery, change implementation, operational readiness, and escalated support across our Origination Platforms.
Experience with BCNEXXT Vipe or similar software-defined playout solutions is highly advantageous. A solid background in traditional and/or cloud playout systems is essential.
What you'll do
Technical Delivery & Support
Act as the primary technical resource for the delivery of changes, configuration updates, and service enhancements within the cloud playout environment.
Lead technical investigations and manage escalations to ensure timely incident resolution and service continuity.
Requirement to have technical escalation out of hours expected to be once every 9 weeks
Operational & Cost Management
Oversee operational costs for the assigned playout domain, ensuring cost effective use of cloud infrastructure and third party services.
Provide reporting, tracking, and forecasting for ongoing operational expenditure.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Serve as a key point of communication between engineering teams, operational support, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Represent Video Engineering in meetings, technical discussions, and change forums.
Aligned Technical Approaches
Work within our Agile delivery framework, using Jira and associated tools to manage workstreams, delivery pipelines, and engineering alignment.
Vendor & Partner Management
Build productive working relationships with vendors, ensuring clear prioritisation, roadmap alignment, and effective knowledge transfer.
Mentor junior engineers to ensure continuity, resilience, and shared platform knowledge across the team.
What you'll bring
Proven experience in broadcast engineering with substantial involvement in the Playout domain (traditional, IPbased, or cloud).
Degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.
Strong understanding of broadcast infrastructure—playout chains, automation, MCR workflows, monitoring, and quality assurance.
Solid grounding in AWS cloud services, ideally with experience delivering or supporting cloud-based playout, encoding, or media processing workflows.
Excellent diagnostic and problem solving skills with the ability to resolve complex technical issues under pressure.
Deep awareness of broadcast standards, best practices, and emerging technologies within IP and cloud native broadcasting.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences.
A proactive learner with a growth mindset, capable of adapting to new tools, workflows, and technologies while thriving in a hybrid working environmen
