Sky News is looking for an experienced Camera Operator/Editor to be based in Beijing for a minimum of 2 years, with the expectation of travel across China, and sometimes hostile environments. The role will be to acquire and deliver raw and edited news content to Sky Studios in London using a variety of equipment depending on what each individual assignment demands.
Depending on the candidate and their right to work / visa status, we are open to offering someone the position on a permanent or fixed term contract basis (minimum of 2 years).
Please note this role requires a full driver’s licence (UK or international).
What you'll do:
Acquire and deliver media to Sky News using a variety of equipment depending on the needs of each individual story, potentially on your own.
Use the latest HD cameras for ENG, EFP, digital video and long-form/documentary style content gathering including Panasonic GH7’s.
Deliver live and recorded video content from the field, using IP technologies (LiveU’s/Starlinks).
Collaborate with a range of Sky News correspondents, field producers and fellow camera operator/editors to gather, manage and deliver the best possible content for all Sky News platforms.
Take responsibility for your own ENG camera, sound and personal broadcast equipment including the use of company pool/hired vehicles when required.
What you'll bring:
Extensive experience delivering a wide variety of raw and edited news content for all platforms under pressure of tight deadlines and challenging environments.
The ability to confidently operate a range of ENG cameras, editing and transmission equipment for all news gathering purposes.
A high level of motivation; evidence of working as part of high-performing journalistic teams on editorial and creative projects for all news platforms.
A keen sense of what makes high quality visual journalism as well as enthusiasm to continually improve all aspects of the news gathering process for all platforms.
An ambition to consistently produce work at the highest level and contribute to Sky’s award-winning coverage.
Great communication skills, to positively interact with a variety of people and situations.
