team.

As a DevOps Engineer with us, you'll have the exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, including Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Terraform, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services. - Matt Barber, Senior DevOps Engineer. 

 

What you'll do: 

 

  • Work with two of the leading cloud platforms - Google Cloud platform and Amazon Web Services. Gain hands-on experience in building and optimizing cloud infrastructure that supports the backbone of Sky Sports and Sky News websites and apps. 

  • You'll immerse yourself in the world of Kubernetes, orchestrating and managing containerized applications. Our team provides an ideal environment to develop your skills and grow. 

  • Champion the drive towards full task automation and repeatability, ranging from brief scripts to comprehensive pipelines. Evaluate emerging technologies to guarantee our continuous position on the cutting edge. 

  • Inspire and guide associate DevOps Engineers within the team, actively fostering the expansion of the DevOps ethos across our engineering teams. 

  • Engage closely with architects and engineers to craft and shape our forward-looking platform. 

  • Use performance metrics and monitoring data to enhance both platform robustness and business performance. 

  • Collaborate with engineers to swiftly pinpoint, address, and overcome incidents and challenges. 

 

Desirable experience: 

 

  • Preferred exposure to containerisation within public cloud environments. (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) 

  • Proficiency in Source Control/Configuration management systems. (e.g., GitLab, GitHub) 

  • Demonstrated hands-on familiarity with CI/CD tools and methodologies. (e.g., CircleCI, Jenkins) 

  • Working knowledge of Infrastructure as a Code principles. (e.g., Terraform, Ansible) 

  • Comfort with utilising Observability tools for enhanced system insights. (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry 

  • Outstanding communication skills to effectively share knowledge and experience with fellow engineers.
