In this role, you will be aligned to the ER team and will partner with the Sky Sports teams and all of their leaders to focus on providing proactive and reactive support in relation to key ER processes including, conduct, grievance, absence management, performance management, and redeployment. You will ensure all managers are acting within the scope of policy and procedure with a focus on gaining the best outcomes for both the business and the employees.

The Employee Relations Partner must be prepared to travel to embed themselves into the business unit, to build relationships, knowledge and understanding of their stakeholder group.

What you'll do:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for all employee relations related cases, providing appropriate advice and support to all people managers, driving best practice, and ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures in-line with UK employment legislation.
  • Ensure that risks are effectively identified and managed appropriately, and commercially, in line with the relevant process.
  • Coach, guide and influence people managers on all people related matters and the best approach to dealing with people related topics, developing their knowledge, capability, and confidence.
  • Act as a point of escalation for people managers on ER related activity / cases.
  • Help drive positive employee engagement by providing guidance and recommendations to resolve employee concerns. 
  • Be responsible for capturing and analysing data to identify the root causes of ER issues and drive proactive initiatives.
  • Work in collaborate with the People Partner and key stakeholders to implement and drive any relevant recommendations based on ER case findings.
  • Facilitate & deliver training sessions for managers and employees on topics related to employee relations i.e. discrimination and harassment.
  • Coach managers on how to appropriately manage and resolve complex ER issues.
  • Communicate and educate on policies, procedures, and compliance.
  • Work closely with your peers to consider relevant insight from your business area in relation to ER cases / data to identify any shared learnings.
  • Escalate any complex high-risk cases or disputes and determine work with the relevant teams on solutions, course of action, mitigation the risk and any PR exposure.
  • Escalate any concerns, issues with cases, where appropriate advice provided is not being considered by the People Manager / SLT and requires intervention.

What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in employee relations or related HR function.
  • Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with employees at all levels of the organisation.
  • Experience of influencing senior stakeholders and building relationships in challenging situations.
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex employee relations issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • High emotional intelligence, as demonstrated by maintaining respect and empathy when confronted with difficult and uncomfortable situations.
  • Sound judgment, high integrity, and the ability to handle complex, highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity within a fast-paced and changing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time, work prioritize tasks, work under pressure and independently, whilst maintaining the highest levels of integrity.
  • You will be a creative problem-solver, able to pivot and change direction confidently to meet the needs of the business.
