This is an exciting new role to help shape energy efficiency across Sky’s office estate in the UK and ROI. You’ll be responsible for identifying and delivering energy demand opportunities, shaping the efficiency of the equipment we purchase, providing technical advice to project/operational teams and harnessing technology to unlock further demand reduction opportunities. You’ll join the Sky Spaces Team with a shared purpose to create working environments and experiences for colleagues to work, connect and thrive. Through this role, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute directly to the achievement of Sky’s leading corporate sustainability commitments.
What you’ll do:
Use your technical skills to audit and identify energy reduction opportunities across Sky’s office portfolio. Maintain a record of these opportunities and lead projects to reduce energy use through a mixture of low/no cost and capex opportunities.
Use tools such as metering and targeting and building management systems to identify energy waste. Use your knowledge and experience to extract data to support strategic decision making / prioritisation.
Develop relationships and work with stakeholder teams to proactively reduce energy use. Collaborate in the establishment of guardrails to manage tensions between energy reduction and operational resilience.
Create clear and concise progress reports to senior leadership. Identify additional data streams to support this reporting as required.
Support equipment replacement strategies through provision of technical advice on most efficient / suitable projects using ‘whole life’ costing analysis.
Act as a ‘subject matter expert’ for energy efficiency/energy management, support the broader project and operational teams by providing technical advice, setting project objectives, reviewing stage gate designs and reviewing consultant sustainability reviews.
What you’ll bring:
At least 7 years’ experience in technical ‘hands-on’ Energy Management roles. Proven track record of implementing energy efficiency measures and reducing energy demand within these roles.
Extensive knowledge of HVAC, lighting, renewable power, district heating and building management systems plus and understanding of energy and water metering (including monitoring and targeting platforms). Be knowledgeable on the pro’s/con’s of emerging technology and suitability for different applications.
Ability to carry out energy audits and feasibility studies for the implementation of new technologies or replacement of existing.
The ability to communicate clearly and concisely. Particularly in conveying technical subjects to a non-technical audience.
Firm understanding of current energy efficiency legislation (including MEES, ESOS, EPBD etc) and an understanding of developing guidance in relation to new build / retrofit net zero design principles / requirements (UKGBC/LETI/RIBA). Knowledge of IPMVP is beneficial but not essential.
