Want to do the best work of your life? Make your mark at Europe’s leading entertainment brand. Our people make Sky a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your skills shine.

We are looking for a Correspondent to deliver high quality coverage of news stories in the North of England for Sky’s 24-hour, multiplatform news operation.  You would be expected to live in the North of England.

Please note a full driving license and passport is essential for this role.

What you’ll do:

  • Report on all types of breaking news and planned news coverage in the North of England, and occasionally beyond, to provide compelling content for online, television and radio.

  • Come up with imaginative story ideas and treatments which help to give Sky News the edge over competitors, and which illuminate the key issues in this busy and distinct area of the UK.

  • Great value is placed on the originality of your journalism and its execution. It’s what makes us distinct from our competitors.

  • Work quickly against deadlines to deliver live broadcasts, reporter “packages”, written online content and bespoke video content for digital.

What you’ll bring:

  • First class editorial judgement and the journalistic skill and experience to handle most a wide range of national stories.

  • The ability to broadcast live in a fluent and coherent way, both by way of analysis and by delivering the facts on breaking news events.

  • Ability to tell stories with clarity and imagination, whatever the medium.

  • Demonstrable capacity for delivering original and exclusive news stories. Good live broadcasting skills and TV packaging ability, or an evident aptitude to learn them quickly.

  • Good knowledge of law and compliance issues affecting news media.
