As a Group Platform Engineering (GPE) Principle UX/UI Designer, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our customer interactions within our toolsets and the those of the wider department. You will lead our Content Broadcast Platforms (CBP) design strategy to standardise (both technology and design), modernising our product interfaces across the department to enable improved consistency of experience for our customers. 

 

What you'll do 

  • Define and lead our Content Broadcast Platforms.(CBP) UX/UI design strategy for all our internal-facing products used by engineering, operations, and support teams. 

  • Partner closely with product managers, engineers, and internal stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into usable and engaging interfaces across CBP. 

  • Demonstrate an ability to come up with innovative ideas, solve problems creatively and shape these into logical, coherent solutions that centre around our customers needs 

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews to deeply understand internal user needs and pain points. 

  • Lead on the design of a unified, re-usable UI framework allowing interaction consistency to be efficiently deployed to our internal portals and engineering tools 

  • Rapidly create wireframes, prototypes, and UI designs enabling efficient iteration based on feedback and data. 

  • Champion user-centered design and the value of thoughtful UX in internal product development processes as part of the wider CBP Product Transformation. 

  • Contribute to and evolve the internal design mechanisms to ensure visual and interaction consistency across internal tools. 

What you'll bring 

  • Experience of leading discovery & design workshops, helping drive alignment and innovation through-out product interfaces we deliver 

  • Deep understanding of user-centered design principles, UX research methodologies, and accessibility standards combined with a strong proficiency using design and prototyping tools to convey your vision 

  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to advocate for design with stakeholders at all levels. 

  • A keen eye for establishing and maintaining consistency of our internal brand guidelines, principles, templates and assets 

  • Deep understanding of frontend architecture principles having previously delivering re-usable performant UI/UX patterns at scale  

  • Previous experience and strong working knowledge of Public cloud vendors such as AWS and Google, including infrastructure as code (IaC) 

  • Experience working directly with engineers in agile or cross-functional teams. 

  • Strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work on complex internal or enterprise tools. 

  • Strong communication and presentation skills showcasing your ability to articulate your point-of-view and engage in fact-based discourse.  

  • Strong partnering skills with senior product and business leaders including the Senior Leadership team on strategy and execution.  

  • Experience designing for technical end users is a strong plus with familiarity with developer tools and workflows, CI/CD tools, or internal platform ecosystems being highly desirable 

  • Demonstratable hands on experience with relevant technologies such as React, Typescript, and CSS frameworks (TailwindCSS, Emotion or similar) 

  • Experience working in monorepos in source control tools (such as Git or similar) and managing shared libraries

Content technology and innovation

As part of Content Technology and Innovation, the Group Platform Engineering (GPE) team deliver the platforms which underpin the infrastructure for all of Sky’s content acquisition, processing, and distribution, across all of Sky’s TV and OTT products. As part of the GPE team, we have the critical role of delivering and supporting the infrastructure components to maintain reliability, security and transparency across the following internal customer teams. 

Working closely within Product Enablement alongside the Cloud Architects, Developers, and Product Managers – this role will help provide our customers with a consistent user experience across our tooling and self-service portals used in a 24/7 media environment.
