Job Purpose

As a Product Owner, your role is a blended role between a Product Owner and a Delivery Manager, a role which is a unique opportunity to work on both highly innovative products and to manage end to end deliveries across foundational platform capabilities. The roles primary objectives will be to own the products and platforms which cover a variety of infrastructure technologies such as:

  • Deployment platforms.

  • Data platforms.

  • Observability platforms.

  • FinOps reporting capabilities.

  • Security reporting capabilities.

  • Web Portal products.

  • Kubernetes platform.

  • Virtualisation platform.

  • Infrastructure service capabilities.

  • Innovative problem-solving applications.

This role will work closely with the Senior Product Manager, Infrastructure Programme manager, Senior SRE & Infrastructure Manager, other Sky technology teams and most importantly, our internal customer teams, to identify value-centric features and capabilities which enable faster, more secure, cost effective and reliable deliveries at scale.

What You’ll DoCommunication & Delivery
  • Continuously Improving the delivery of products and platforms through collaborative shaping and prioritising of the daily roadmaps for the product development and engineering teams 

  • Collaborating with internal Enterprise Technology teams to manage the design and implementation of strategic cloud platform initiatives that cater to the evolving needs of our internal customers.

  • Collaborating closely with other Product Owners, the Programme Manager, Senior Product Manager, and Architecture Teams to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of infrastructure initiatives and department objectives.

  • Being the primary interface for our internal customers for all new feature initiatives across a wide array of cloud platform capabilities.

Leadership
  • Encouraging a culture of innovation by inspiring creative thinking whilst focussing on the outcome by putting value and business purpose at the heart of all product and platform decisions.

  • Coaching from the front, by ensuring new requirements are fully understood by the delivery teams and identifying knowledge gaps to resolve.

  • Implementing and supervising key performance indicators to optimally assess the efficiency, impact, and overall success of your product and platform deliveries.

  • Being a standout leader for your team, where appropriate, by focusing on regular, clear communication, setting clear priorities, and crafting goals as key parts of Performance Development Plans.

Support
  • Take charge of the risk and support elements in your team's delivery ensuring any technical challenges, security risks, or compliance issues are proactively identified and resolved.

What You’ll Bring

Required:

  • Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and frameworks to effectively manage product development and project delivery processes.

  • Strong communication skills to engage stakeholders, understand their needs, and ensure alignment with department, product, or project objectives.

  • Experience in product ownership, including defining product vision, prioritising features, and maximising business value.

  • Strong leadership skills to inspire and motivate teams, foster collaboration, and drive project success.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive continuous improvement.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, requirements, and environments in a dynamic Agile setting.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field. (Not essential if you have related experience or aptitude).

  • Agile certifications such as CSM, PMP, or SAFe Agilist.

  • Relevant industry experience in software development, IT, or related fields.

  • Experience using data and analytics to inform product and project decisions.

  • Certifications which reflect industry standard public cloud knowledge.

  • Understanding of technical concepts and terminology to facilitate communication with development teams.

  • Experience managing organizational change and driving adoption of Agile practices.

  • Proficiency in product management tools like JIRA.
