We are seeking a motivated and experienced technical team manager within the Sky Business area of the UK&I CTO function.  You will lead a talented team of 3rd line engineers and architects in achieving our goals of creating a technical centre of excellence to ensure in-premise products & services meet Sky & customer expectations.  

What you’ll do: 

Team Management: 

  • Provide technical & people leadership, guidance and direction to a team of technical architects and engineers, motivating and empowering them to achieve their full potential 

  • Manage and allocate resources effectively, optimising team workload and ensuring efficient use of time and expertise  

  • Manage resource capacity within the team thorough an understanding of opportunities in the business pipeline, ensuring potential capacity breaches are highlighted and strategies are in place to mitigate workload blockers  

  • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment promoting open communication and teamwork where engineers can thrive.

Performance Excellence: 

  • Implement and maintain optimised workflow management, ensuring deployments and solutions requests are completed within the expected timeframes and to a consistent high standard 

  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal teams and external partners to maximise technical performance & value across our products and solutions 

  • Through data & knowledge, identify & implement process & ways of working strategies & improvements to enhance team productivity across the technical services that we build, support and operate 

 

Technical Leadership: 

  • Develop and maintain expert-level knowledge of the Sky Business product suite & roadmap to ensure both a high level strategic understanding and the ability to deep-dive technical product functionality 

  • Build relationships with the Product and Group Technology teams to ensure collaboration on the development and implementation of technical strategies within Sky Business  

  • Identify opportunities to monetise the team’s technical consultative skills as part of a professional services offering 

  • Identify and address technical, security and compliance risks, working with other teams to develop solutions to overcome challenges 

  • Take the lead on complex troubleshooting and solutions identification to technical issues impacting customers and/or the (e.g.) WiFi network 

 

What you’ll bring: 

  • Experience in managing WiFi networks/platforms and edge device hardware & configurations

  • Strong technical knowledge of connectivity products & solutions for small, medium and large businesses

  • Experience working in a Pre-Sales environment, supporting sales and in-life account management

  • Exceptional stakeholder and customer relationship management skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, both technical and non-technical

  • Troubleshooting expertise to identify solutions to complex technical problems

  • The ability to develop and implement technical strategies, aligning with the company's overall goals and objectives

  • Incessant curiosity, driven by data and knowledge to evidence optimization and innovation opportunities across the technical services that we build, support, and operate

  • Team player mentality who cherishes and enables a one-team collaborative culture

Team overview:

You will be joining the Sky Business to Business team, working in the Technology function. The team listen, influence and join the dots between business and technology strategies, looking ahead, shaping and influencing technology, building solutions and servicing customers across Sky Business and Comcast Business entities. This is a team with drive and dynamism, working at the forefront of product and technology adoption.
