Based in London, this role will report into the Head of Risk and Compliance and will be responsible for designing and delivering risk-based assurance activity across Sky Protect. The role is key to ensuring that the business operates within the law and regulations that apply to Sky Protect.

What you'll do:

  • Develop and deliver an annual compliance monitoring and assurance plan to track whether Sky Protect complies with external regulations and internal policies

  • Conduct reviews of regulatory subjects, internal departments and processes identifying key risk areas and recommending action plans to address any weaknesses

  • Regularly test and assess internal risk controls to ensure they are working as intended to mitigate those risks

  • Document and report both compliance breaches and control weaknesses, ensuring action is taken to address any issues.

  • Making recommendations to improve control effectiveness and/or identify where new controls are require

  • Ensure actions are closed in a timely manner with suitable evidence provided, and any delays are minimised and highlighted at the earliest opportunity.

  • Work closely with internal teams including legal, operations, and finance to support risk management and compliance initiatives. Serve as a trusted advisor on compliance matters, providing expertise and guidance

  • Prepare regular reports for senior management and the Board on compliance monitoring findings, risk trends, and action plans. Provide actionable insights and recommendations based on monitoring results.

  • Keep abreast of relevant regulatory and legislative changes within the insurance industry and assess their impact on the company’s operations. Ensure timely updates to the compliance monitoring plan in line with such changes

  • Completing ad-hoc reviews as requested by the Head of Risk and Compliance

  • Represent Sky Protect in relevant meetings.

  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships across Sky Protect and the wider Group.

What you'll bring:

Skills:

  • Previous demonstrable experience in Risk and Compliance within the general insurance sector in a assurance role

  • Expertise in interpreting and applying FCA regulations, such as SYSC, PRIN, PROD, and the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD).

  • Proficiency in conducting risk assessments, identifying potential threats to the business, and developing mitigation strategies.

  • Well organised with attention to detail

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly, with autonomy and prioritise own workloads

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships across a range of stakeholders.

  • The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure,

  • Excellent report writing skills

Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of the FCA’s regulatory framework and requirements for insurance intermediaries, particularly in areas such as Consumer Duty, Product governance, Complaints and operational resilience.

  • Knowledge of risk management best practices, frameworks and how to apply them in an FCA-regulated environment.

  • A deep understanding of the insurance market, including household insurance products, customer needs, and the regulatory challenges specific to insurance distribution.

  • Knowledge of financial crime regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML)

  • Understanding of GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations
