What you'll do:

Based in London, this role will report into the Head of Risk and Compliance and will be responsible for designing and delivering risk-based assurance activity across Sky Protect. The role is key to ensuring that the business operates within the law and regulations that apply to Sky Protect.

  • Provide day-to-day compliance guidance to business units, develop relevant UK policies, and maintain compliance frameworks.

  •  Lead regulatory horizon scanning and provide risk-based analysis to guide Sky Protects strategic decisions.

  • Investigate operational risk events, conduct root cause analysis, and implement control improvements.

  •  Drive regulatory change projects and deliver clear progress reporting to senior management.

  •  Develop and deliver insightful compliance reporting to assist the Head of Risk and Compliance with Executive and Board committees.

  •  Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as legal, risk management, and internal audit, to ensure a coordinated approach to compliance

  •  Oversee the review and approval of financial promotions across Sky Protects customer journeys to ensure they are compliant with internal policies and standards and FCA and ASA rules and regulations.

  •  Keeping management informed of significant compliance issues and developments.

  •  Completing ad-hoc reviews as requested by the Head of Risk and Compliance

  • Represent Sky Protect in relevant meetings.

  • Develop and maintain key stakeholder relationships across Sky Protect and the wider Group.

What you'll bring:

  • Previous demonstrable experience in 2nd line Risk and Compliance within the general insurance sector

  • Expertise in interpreting and applying FCA regulations, such as SYSC, PRIN, PROD, and the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD).

  •  Well organised with attention to detail

  •  Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate compliance risks.

  •  Strong organisational skills with the ability to work flexibly, with autonomy and prioritise own workloads

  •  Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships across a range of stakeholders.

  •  The ability to remain calm and focused under pressure,

  •  In-depth understanding of the FCA’s regulatory framework and requirements for insurance intermediaries, particularly in areas such as Consumer Duty, Product governance, Complaints and operational resilience.

  •  Knowledge of risk management best practices, frameworks and how to apply them in an FCA-regulated environment.

  •  A deep understanding of the insurance market, including household insurance products, customer needs, and the regulatory challenges specific to insurance distribution.

  •  Strong background in policy and procedure writing, with a focus on best practice compliance and risk management frameworks.

  •  Knowledge of financial crime regulations, including Anti-Money Laundering (AML)

  • Understanding of GDPR and other relevant data protection regulations

  •  Demonstrates high ethical standards and integrity in decision-making and must lead by example, ensuring that compliance is not just a regulatory box-ticking exercise but a core company value.

  •  Takes initiative in identifying potential risks before they impact the business.

  •  Friendly, approachable personality, fostering a positive working environment.

  •  Must demonstrate the ability to strike a balance between regulatory compliance and commercial objectives, ensuring that the firm meets its legal obligations without stifling business innovation or growth.

  •  Focused on ensuring that the firm treats its customers fairly and acts in their best interests.

  •  While maintaining professionalism, the individual should not be afraid to bring a bit of personality to their work.
