Senior HR Investigator
As a Senior HR Investigator, you will be responsible for leading our most complex and high-risk cases, including those which may have been investigated previously by an HR Investigator. You will scope, plan and complete a thorough, fair, and comprehensive investigation ensuring ACAS guidelines and company processes and policies are adhered to throughout, with investigations being concluded in appropriate timescales for all involved. When drawing your conclusions, you will also make recommendations regarding whether there is a case to answer and / or another appropriate follow up action.
What you will do;
- Support and manage the most complex people issues in line with company policy and law, including investigating cases that may have previously been investigated by an HR Investigator
- Effectively and sensitively, interact and communicate with individuals involved in a case, managing the expectations of business leaders, and affected employees
- Be prepared to attend Employment Tribunals to present evidence collected as an independent Investigator when evidence is critical to defend a claim
- Provide constructive and impactful feedback to colleagues within the HRI team to foster growth, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Act as a point of escalation for key stakeholders on HRI activity
- Work in close partnership with our legal team/s to advise the business areas on possible litigation and / or settlement conversations / negotiations
- When appropriate, also engage and consult with other partners including, ER and HR colleagues, Group Compliance, and Group Security.
- Deputise for HRI Manager as / when required e.g. attending senior stakeholder meetings across group
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives, to maximise efficiency and effectiveness
- Proactively identity trends and themes to develop strategies that will mitigate risks
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert for all HRI activity and Coach, train, and develop the wider HRI team
- On the day management and allocation of Admin resource
What you will bring;
- At least 1.5-2 years’ experience conducting employee relations investigations
- Strong working knowledge of employment law
- Proven ability to lead the most complex HR investigations, produce detailed and high-quality investigation reports and outcome letters efficiently
- The ability to support, coach and develop more junior colleagues in this area
- Experience of providing risk-based advice and guidance in relation to complex investigation outputs
- Experience of supporting without prejudice discussions
- Experience of supporting litigation cases, alongside Legal
- Excellent planning and organisation skills with a proven ability to prioritise, multitask, navigate ambiguity, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment
- Be able to demonstrate excellent relationship building in challenging situations, demonstrating strong and clear communication (written and verbal) skills and diplomacy
- Proactive approach to assessing / resolving issues strategically; anticipating consequences / risks and navigating around unforeseen obstacles.
